Our Team
Joel Rue
Joel was born and raised in Silverton, Oregon. He grew up on a small farm South of Silverton where his grandparents had settled in 1910. Joel attended Victor Point grade school and graduated from Silverton high school in 1971. After two years attending Pacific Lutheran, he transferred to Oregon State and received a BS in Crop and Soil science in 1975. Joel had the opportunity to start farming full time in 1976 by taking over his parents farm and by 1979 married his wife Donna, who grew up on a farm South of Molalla. Donna pursued a nursing career but Joel and Donna were soon blessed with three boys who all eventually decided to farm. Both Donna and Joel were provided the opportunity to grow their land base by combining their families assets. Today, with the help of their boys, their spouses and families, the Rues farm together as Victor Point Farms.
Jesse Rue
Jesse was born and raised in the Victor Point Area right across the road from Victor Point School. He graduated Silverton High School in Spring of 2001 and then attended Oregon State University later that fall. He majored in Crop and Soil Science and graduated with his bachelors of science in Spring of 2005. Jesse has always had a passion for farming and so after graduation, he decided to return to the family farm to work with his dad and brothers. He married his wife Leah in 2006 and now has 3 kids, Addie, Jackson and Lincoln. Jesse enjoys hunting with his buddies and attending Oregon State Athletic events with friends and family.
Lucas Rue
Lucas grew up next to Victor Point School and graduated from Silverton High School in 2003. He then studied Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State and graduated with his BS in 2007. After working on the family farm for 3 years he decided to go back to get his master of business administration with a focus in finance from Portland State University, graduating in 2012. After working at a commercial agricultural bank for 3 years in Salem, OR he decided to return to Victor Point Farms in spring of 2015. Lucas enjoys spending time with his wife Christy, two kids Halle and Cade, and traveling whenever possible.
Ben Rue
Ben grew up next to Victor Point School as well and graduated from Silverton High School in 2005. He then studied Health and Physical Education with a minor in Math while playing college baseball at Concordia University in Portland, OR. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2010 before moving to Michigan to play a year of professional baseball. Ben worked on the family farm the two years following, before moving to Nashville, TN to pursue a career in music. After spending nearly a decade in the music industry, Ben moved back to the farm in 2019 with his wife Ashley. They enjoy spending time outdoors with their two children Andie and Abel. They’re also expecting a third child in June of 2022.
